These days it seems rather popular in the financial industry to refer to one's self or company as a “wealth manager”. Television commercials from many banks, insurance companies and brokerage houses have furthered the popularity of the buzzword. However, a recent study found that less than 9% of financial advisors use what we would call a true wealth management model. Over 91% of the financial advisors surveyed actually provided only Investment Consulting. Investment Consulting is obviously a very important element of Wealth Management, but it is by no means the only element.
